The Greystones Summer Project takes place over one week of the Summer, usually in July.
Each day there are three sessions:
- Morning Session: 10:30 – 12:30
- Afternoon Session: 14:30 – 16:30
- Evening Session: 19:00 – 21:00
The Greystones Summer Project differs from other Summer Camps because the children are not required to participate in any specific activity. They are free to pick and choose what they want, and they can spend as much or as little time as want doing so.
There are activities that happen during every session such as Art & Drawing, Indoor Games and Outdoor Games. Other activities are scheduled on the programme of events; like Cookery, Pet Talk, Slimy Science. There are also some activities that take place off site like Orienteering in Kindlestown Woods, Golf at the Greystones Driving Range, and Soccer and Baseball in the local clubs.
Parents are required to supervise for a minimum of 2 sessions over the week. This is to ensure we are meeting current regulations and that there is an adequate adult to child ratio. All parents are required to be Garda Vetted.
Junior Leaders keep the fun and energy levels high. They are the people on the ground that setup and organise the games and activities, write the table quiz, choreograph the dances and generally ensure that the children in the project are having as much fun as they possibly can!
Local business owners very kindly volunteer their time to offer their products or services for the children to try throughout the week. Yoga instructors, Art teachers, Sports Clubs, Scout Leaders and local enthusiasts are to name but a few.
